Since the 1970s, containerization has had an enormous impact on global trade and transport. These standard-sized boxes made it possible to ship goods from one side of the world to the other using different means of transport without transloading the goods, thus reducing the costs and the risks of theft or damage. We are now observing the same evolution in bike delivery: big volume clients’ needs collided with the restricted loading capacity of one single cargo bike. In recent years manufacturers all over the world have been developing bike trailers and standardized containers to respond to this tendency.
